چکیده
Background and Aim X-ray micro computed tomography (micro-CT) is a non-destructive 3D imaging technique that has been applied to plant morphology anatomical studies gain better understanding of physiological phenomena in vivo. It particularly useful for voids undisturbed fragile tissues therefore may be the delicate flowers soft berries Vitis vinifera. The characterisation gas spaces channels can offer insights into process tissue aeration this have implications on cell function vitality. We assessed use micro-CT visualise within these reproductive organs. Methods Results internal structures were captured through rapid scanning subsequently recreated using image processing. relative positions developing flower parts encased cap visualised. Low density/porous was identified pedicel receptacle, connecting lenticels with interior berry. Voids present proximal mesocarp mature forming ‘detachment zone’ both seeded seedless cultivars. permeated grape cultivars, but not grapes. Conclusion Micro-CT offers new regarding distribution compositional heterogeneity organs are difficult dissect and/or view light microscopy. Significance Study A physiology functionality grapevine achieved by visualisation structure

volume fraction and location of voids and gaps in ultraconservative restorations by x-ray computed micro-tomography
background: volume fraction (vf) and location of internal voids and gaps in relation to material type and cavity dimensions in ultraconservative restorations were investigated in this study. materials and methods: forty-eight round cavities of 1.3 mm mean diameter and 2.6 mm mean depth were made on buccal and lingual surfaces of recently extracted human teeth. these were fi lled and thermocycle...
متن کاملComputed 3D visualisation of an extinct cephalopod using computer tomographs
The first 3D visualisation of a heteromorph cephalopod species from the Southern Alps (Dolomites, northern Italy) is presented. Computed tomography, palaeontological data and 3D reconstructions were included in the production of a movie, which shows a life reconstruction of the extinct organism. This detailed reconstruction is according to the current knowledge of the shape and mode of life as ...
متن کاملThree-dimensional visualisation of soft biological structures by X-ray computed micro-tomography.
Whereas the two-dimensional (2D) visualisation of biological samples is routine, three-dimensional (3D) imaging remains a time-consuming and relatively specialised pursuit. Current commonly adopted techniques for characterising the 3D structure of non-calcified tissues and biomaterials include optical and electron microscopy of serial sections and sectioned block faces, and the visualisation of...
متن کاملX-ray micro-computed tomography
Micro-computed tomography (μCT) has been successfully used to study the cardiovascular system of mouse embryos in situ. With the use of barium as a suitablecontrast agent, blood vessels have beenimaged and analysed quantitatively such asblood volume and vessel sizes on embryosof ages 14.5 to 16.5 days old. The advantageof using this imaging modality is that it hasprovide...
متن کاملThree-dimensional visualisation of the internal anatomy of the sparrowhawk (Accipiter nisus) forelimb using contrast-enhanced micro-computed tomography
BACKGROUND Gross dissection is a widespread method for studying animal anatomy, despite being highly destructive and time-consuming. X-ray computed tomography (CT) has been shown to be a non-destructive alternative for studying anatomical structures. However, in the past it has been limited to only being able to visualise mineralised tissues. In recent years, morphologists have started to use t...
